We're hiring!

Rocket Whale was founded on the idea that people perform better when they know what's expected of them. We live the 10 dimensions and so should you.

The 10 Dimensions

The following skills, abilities, and personal qualities are essential to success at Rocket Whale, and all Rocket Whalers should strive to live these dimensions at all times.

Initiative and Leadership: To recognize and assume responsibility for work that needs to be done; to persist in the completion of a task; to understand that done > perfect and that things can always be changed; to ask forgiveness, not permission; to go the extra mile.

Communication: To be clear and concise because you value other people’s time more than your own; to use appropriate styles of communication to fit the audience and purpose; to recognize when a conversation needs to happen and to be proactive with initiating one, even when it’s a difficult topic; to speak clear, fluent English.

Teamwork: To trust others and to build other’s trust in you; to embrace conflict; to commit to team decisions; to hold yourself and other team members accountable; to check your ego at the door; to be hard on content and soft on people; to set others up for success.

Fun, Positive and Happy: To be a delight to be around; to follow the golden rule; to see the positive side of things while also being realistic; to use humor as appropriate; to avoid drama; to be a professional and do your job even when conditions aren’t ideal.

Resourcefulness and Problem Solving: To solve problems elegantly; to formulate creative alternatives or solutions to resolve problems; to show flexibility in response to unanticipated circumstances.

Judgment: To discern what is appropriate, practical, and realistic in a given situation; to weigh relative merits of competing demands.

Composure: To stay calm, poised, and effective in stressful or difficult situations; to think on one's feet, adjusting quickly to changing situations; to maintain self-control; to be ok with being wrong.

Inquisitiveness: To understand how what you’re doing fits into the big picture; to solve problems, not symptoms; to explore the “bottom of the iceberg” to truly understand the task or problem at hand; to recognize that there’s always more to learn and new perspectives always have value; to ask dumb questions; to be comfortable saying “I don’t know”.

Ambition and Motivation: Working at Rocket Whale gets you closer to your professional and personal goals; your daily workload matches up with what you enjoy doing; to take ownership of Rocket Whale’s success.

Planning and Organizing: To break down high-level goals into specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely tasks; to prioritize tasks effectively; to employ a systematic approach to achieving objectives; to make appropriate use of limited resources.

The 10 dimensions apply to all Rocket Whale employees and it is to our collective benefit to hold each other accountable to them. These dimensions guide our hiring process and, once you're on board, all performance reviews.
